Your 10-day Uganda safari begins when you arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Your friendly Choose Uganda Safaris guide will be there to welcome you, help with your luggage, and take you to your comfortable safari vehicle. 

From the airport, it is a short drive to your hotel in Entebbe. This peaceful lakeside town sits on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. It is the perfect place to relax after your flight and start your Uganda adventure. Entebbe was once Uganda’s capital, and its name comes from a Luganda word meaning “seat.” Today, it is known for its green surroundings, quiet atmosphere, and beautiful lakeside setting. 

If you arrive early, you can choose to visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, or the Uganda Reptile Village. You can also enjoy a relaxing sunset boat cruise on Lake Victoria. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and a good night’s rest before your safari begins.

After an early breakfast, you leave Entebbe and begin the journey northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park. 

The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours, with several stops along the way to stretch your legs and enjoy the changing scenery.

As you travel, your driver-guide will introduce you to Uganda, its people, wildlife, and culture. This is also a great time to share what you are most looking forward to, whether it is wildlife, birds, photography, or nature. It helps your guide make the safari even more enjoyable.

Your first major stop is Ziwa Rhino Ranch, the only place in Uganda where you can see wild white rhinos. Here, you will join an experienced ranger for a guided rhino walk through the bush. Seeing these magnificent animals on foot is an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of the day. After the rhino walk, continue to Kabalega Diner for lunch. If you would like, this is a great chance to try traditional Ugandan food before continuing your journey.

In the afternoon, drive to Murchison Falls National Park. As you enter the park, you will begin to see its beautiful landscapes of woodland, open savannah, and riverine forest. Covering nearly 4,000 square kilometres, it is home to four of the Big Five, over 450 bird species, and the mighty Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge before crashing down with incredible force. Arrive at your lodge in the early evening. Settle into your room, relax, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for tomorrow’s safari adventure.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before setting off on your first game drive of the safari. You will explore the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, where wide savannah plains, borassus palms, acacia trees, and riverine woodland create one of Uganda’s best wildlife-viewing areas.

Early morning is the best time to find animals. Keep your eyes open for lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, oribis, warthogs, spotted hyenas, and many other animals. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, with more than 450 bird species. If you are lucky, you may even spot the rare shoebill.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax before your afternoon adventure.

Later, enjoy a boat safari on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. This is one of the highlights of the park. Along the way, you will see large groups of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and many waterbirds resting along the riverbanks.

As you get closer, the sound of the falls grows louder. Here, the Nile squeezes through a narrow rocky gorge before crashing into the river below with unbelievable force. The views are spectacular, and the powerful roar of the water is something you will never forget.

After the boat safari, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening. As the sun goes down, listen to the sounds of the African bush and watch the stars light up the night sky.

After breakfast, visit the top of the mighty Murchison Falls. This is one of Uganda’s most famous natural attractions. Watch the Nile River which is about 50 meters squeeze through a narrow rocky gorge about 8 meters wide before crashing 43 meters below with a great force. The sound is powerful, and the views are unforgettable. If time allows, take a short walk to another viewpoint for an even better view of the falls.

After your visit, begin the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. The drive takes about 7 hours and passes through some of Uganda’s most beautiful countryside. Along the way, you will see rolling hills, tea plantations, small villages, crater lakes, and lush forests. On a clear day, you may even catch a glimpse of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains.

Stop in Fort Portal Town for lunch before continuing to Kibale Forest National Park. This beautiful rainforest is one of the best places in Africa to see primates. It is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, and many others. The forest is also rich in birds, butterflies, and towering tropical trees.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Relax, enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings, and get ready for tomorrow’s chimpanzee trekking adventure.

After an early breakfast, drive to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. After a short briefing by the park rangers, head into Kibale Forest in search of wild chimpanzees. Kibale is home to around 1,500 chimpanzees and offers the highest success rates for seeing them in Africa. 

The trek usually takes 3 to 4 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are. Once you find them, you will spend one hour watching them feed, play, groom each other, and swing through the forest. It is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences in Uganda.

The forest is also home to 12 other primate species, colourful butterflies, and over 325 bird species. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and many beautiful forest birds along the way.

After the trek, enjoy lunch before driving to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours through beautiful countryside, with views of crater lakes, rolling hills, and the distant Rwenzori Mountains. Along the way, stop at the Equator Monument for photos before continuing to the park.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and prepare for tomorrow’s wildlife safari.

Start the day with an early breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive across the famous Kasenyi Plains. This is one of the best places in Queen Elizabeth National Park to see wildlife.

As the sun rises over the savannah, look out for lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, spotted hyenas, and many other animals. The open plains also make Kasenyi one of the best places in Uganda for wildlife photography. Keep an eye on the skies too, as the park is home to more than 600 bird species.

After the game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and some time to relax before your afternoon adventure.

In the afternoon, head to Mweya Jetty for a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The channel is famous for its huge numbers of hippos and one of the largest concentrations of waterbirds in Africa. You will also see elephants, Nile crocodiles and monitor lizards, along the shoreline.  Your guide will help you spot some of the park’s most colourful and interesting bird species as you cruise through this beautiful landscape.

After the boat safari, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

After an early breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the 4-hour drive south towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Before leaving Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy a game drive through the remote Ishasha Sector, one of the few places in Africa where you can see the famous tree-climbing lions.

Unlike most lions, the Ishasha lions often rest high in the branches of large fig trees during the heat of the day. It is one of Uganda’s most unique wildlife experiences. The males are especially impressive, with their dark, almost black manes. Ishasha is also the only part of the park where you may see topi antelopes and the elusive sitatunga.

After the game drive, continue towards Bwindi, enjoying lunch along the way. You will arrive at your lodge in the afternoon with time to relax before tomorrow’s gorilla trek.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Africa’s oldest and most remarkable rainforests. It covers 321 square kilometres of steep mountains and dense forest and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. The forest is believed to have survived the last Ice Age, making it one of the oldest ecosystems in Africa.

Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it Uganda’s most famous wildlife destination. It is also incredibly rich in biodiversity, with over 120 mammal species, nearly 350 bird species, more than 200 butterfly species, and over 1,000 plant species.

Today is the day you have been waiting for. Gorilla trekking is the highlight of this safari and one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences in the world.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. At 8:00 am, you will begin your trek through the ancient rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in search of a family of mountain gorillas.

Bwindi is home to about half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The trek can last anywhere from one to several hours, depending on where the gorillas are found. The trails can be steep and muddy, but every step brings you closer to an incredible encounter.

The moment you meet the gorillas is truly unforgettable. You will spend one hour watching them feed, play, groom, and care for one another from just a few metres away. Seeing these gentle giants in their natural home is an experience that stays with you for a lifetime.

Along the way, you may also spot L’Hoest’s monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, duikers, colourful birds, and many butterflies.

After the trek, return to the starting point to receive your gorilla trekking certificate before enjoying a packed lunch. Later, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on one of the most memorable days of your safari.

After a relaxed breakfast, begin the journey to your final safari destination, Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes most of the morning, with a stop for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre near Mbarara. This is one of Uganda’s best cultural centres, where you can enjoy a delicious meal, browse local crafts, and learn more about the traditions of western Uganda.

After lunch, continue to Lake Mburo National Park. Before entering the park, you may see the famous long-horned Ankole cattle grazing across the countryside. These beautiful cattle have been kept by the Bahima people for generations and are one of the symbols of this region.

Lake Mburo may be Uganda’s smallest savannah national park, but it is one of its most beautiful. The park is made up of rolling hills, open grasslands, acacia woodland, rocky outcrops, and peaceful lakes. It is home to zebras, impalas, buffaloes, giraffes, elands, topis, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos, leopards, and many other animals. More than 350 bird species have also been recorded here, making it a wonderful destination for bird lovers.

On arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive as you make your way to your lodge. As the day begins to cool, many animals become active, giving you excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Afterwards, settle into your lodge and enjoy a delicious farewell dinner as you reflect on the unforgettable experiences of your Uganda safari.

After an early breakfast, you’ll set out for a morning nature walk, the final safari activity of your Ugandan adventure. Guided by a knowledgeable local expert, this walk offers a fascinating close-up of the park’s wildlife and ecosystems. 

As you stroll through the scenic savannah dotted with majestic acacia trees, keep your eyes peeled for a variety of animals. You might spot primates, antelopes such as common eland, waterbuck, impala, tsessebe, bushbuck, and klipspringer, as well as plains zebra, giraffe, African buffalo, spotted hyena, and warthogs. Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy the rich variety of species that call this park home.

After the walk, it’s time to begin your transfer back to Entebbe, a drive of approximately four to five hours. Along the way, there’s a pecial stop at the Ugandan Equator in Kayabwe. Here, you can stand with one leg in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, a fun and unique photo opportunity! 

The site also has a small market where you can purchase souvenirs and mementos to remember your incredible journey through Uganda.

You will continue your drive to Entebbe International Airport, where your guide will assist with check-in and bid you farewell. With memories of gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, hippos, and countless breathtaking landscapes fresh in your mind, you’ll depart on your onward or homeward flight, bringing the adventure of Uganda with you forever.
