Highlights

Itinerary IN dETAIL

Discover your route below. This itinerary is the starting point, tailor your adventure with the specific experiences.

Day 1: Drive to Sipi and visit Sezibwa Falls, Mabira Forest and Jinja Source of the Nile

Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive east towards Jinja, passing busy towns, colourful roadside markets, sugarcane plantations, and the rolling countryside of central Uganda.

Stop 1: Sezibwa Falls

Your first stop is the beautiful Sezibwa Falls, about 45 minutes from Kampala. Hidden in lush greenery, these waterfalls are more than just a natural attraction, they are one of Buganda’s most important cultural and spiritual sites.

Take a guided walk around the falls while listening to the roar of the water and the songs of birds in the surrounding forest. Your guide will share the fascinating legends and traditions that have made Sezibwa a sacred place for generations. Keep an eye out for butterflies, monkeys, and colourful birds along the trail.

Stop 2: Mabira Forest

Continue to Mabira Forest, Uganda’s largest tropical rainforest in central Uganda. With an experienced guide, enjoy a relaxing walk beneath the tall trees as you discover one of the country’s richest forests.

Mabira is home to more than 300 bird species, colourful butterflies, and several primates, including the rare Uganda mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, and vervet monkeys. You may also spot forest squirrels, duikers, and many unique plants.

Optional: If you’re looking for more adventure, you can choose the famous Mabira Forest zip-line experience instead of the nature walk. Please note that choosing the zip line may require skipping Sezibwa Falls due to time constraints.

Stop 3: Boat Cruise to the Source of the Nile

After lunch in Jinja, continue to one of Uganda’s most famous landmarks—the Source of the Nile. Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxing one-hour boat cruise to the place where the mighty Nile begins its incredible 6,650-kilometre journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

As you cruise along the calm water, enjoy beautiful views and watch for kingfishers, herons, pelicans, cormorants, and other waterbirds. Standing at the source of the world’s longest river is a special moment and one of the highlights of any visit to Uganda.

After the cruise, continue to your lodge along the Nile. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing as you enjoy the peaceful river views and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures.
