Activities At Turaco Treetops
Turaco Treetops is close to many exciting places and activities. The most famous one is chimp tracking, but there is much more to do.
#1 Chimpanzee Trekking
Kibale National Park is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees. You can join guided walks in the forest to watch these playful animals swinging in the trees. The treks usually last 2 to 3 hours, and guides explain everything about the chimps and the forest. For a longer experience, guests can join the Chimpanzee Habituation Program and spend more time with a chimp family and researchers.
#2 Nature Walks
Short guided walks start right from the lodge. These walks focus on birds, butterflies, trees, and small animals. It is a relaxing way to learn about the forest and enjoy the sounds of nature.
#3 Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
A short drive from the lodge, this community project protects swamps full of monkeys and colorful birds. The guided walk takes about 2 hours, and it’s a great way to support local conservation while enjoying nature.
#4 Crater Lakes and Tea Plantation Tours
The area around Kibale is dotted with beautiful crater lakes. You can go hiking, biking, or even canoeing while enjoying views of the green hills. You can also visit nearby tea plantations and learn how Uganda’s famous tea is grown and processed.
#5 Village Visits
Guests can visit nearby Bigodi and Nkingo villages to meet local families, learn about traditional farming, and see everyday Ugandan life. These visits help the community and give travelers a real cultural experience.
#6 Family Activities
Families can join guided day or night forest walks, scavenger hunts, rock painting, or even build forest huts. The lodge staff have many creative ideas to keep children curious and happy while teaching them about nature.
