Activities At Anyandwe House
Staying at Anyadwe House gives you access to many exciting activities both on land and on water. Here are the top things to do:
1. Game Drives
Enjoy guided wildlife drives in Murchison Falls National Park. Cross the new Nile bridge to reach the northern side, where open savannah grasslands are home to elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, and many antelopes. You can also explore new tracks on the southern bank for a quieter, bushier safari experience.
2. Boat Safaris to Murchison Falls
Take a private boat trip straight from the house’s private jetty to see the mighty Murchison Falls. This 3–4 hour cruise lets you watch hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and colorful waterbirds along the riverbanks. You can combine the trip with a hike to the top of the falls or a bush lunch at the summit.
3. Delta Boat Cruises
Go downstream to the Victoria Nile Delta, a calm and scenic area famous for rare birds like the shoebill stork. Morning cruises are especially beautiful, with mist rising from the water. Breakfast can be served on board for a peaceful start to the day.
4. Visit The Top of Murchison Falls
Take a guided hike to see the powerful 8-meter-wide gorge where the Nile squeezes through the rocks before plunging down in thunder. You can view the falls from several angles, walk down to the bottom, or enjoy a combination of boat and walking safaris.
5. Sport Fishing
The Nile is one of Africa’s best rivers for sport fishing. You can try catching Nile perch and catfish with the help of local guides. Fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis to protect the species.
6. Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest
About 45 minutes away, Budongo Forest is home to a large group of wild chimpanzees. Join a half-day trek to watch them play, feed, and interact in their natural habitat. You might also see colobus monkeys, baboons, and many bird species.
7. Sundowner or Breakfast Cruises
Relax on a sunset cruise with drinks and snacks as the golden light reflects on the river, or start your day with a calm breakfast cruise. Both are unforgettable experiences on the Nile.
