4 Days Fly-in Safari - Double Gorilla Trekking

This 4-day fly-in safari is great for travelers who don’t have much time but want to see mountain gorillas in the wild. You will take a short flight from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is home to almost half of the world’s mountain gorillas. You will have two days to go trekking and see different gorilla families in their forest home.

Each trek lasts between 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are. A trained ranger will guide you and help you spot the gorillas. Seeing them up close—watching babies play or the big silverback with his family—is a very special experience. Between treks, you can relax, take a walk in the forest, or visit a local village to meet the Batwa people and learn about their way of life. Flying in and out of Bwindi saves you long hours on the road. You’ll stay in a peaceful lodge surrounded by trees and nature. This short trip is easy to add to a longer holiday in Uganda or Rwanda. It’s a simple, exciting, and unforgettable way to meet the amazing mountain gorillas.

The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorilla family is located. As you hike through the thick forest, your experienced ranger will guide you and share interesting facts about the plants, animals, and the mountain gorillas that live here. When you find the gorillas, you will spend about one hour quietly watching them. You may see the silverback keeping watch, mothers feeding their babies, or young gorillas playing. It is a magical moment you will never forget. In the afternoon, you can relax at your lodge or choose an optional activity such as a nature walk in the forest or a visit to a nearby village to learn about the Batwa people and their traditional way of life.

After an early breakfast, you will begin your second trek into the dense Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Just like the first day, a skilled ranger will lead the way, helping you track a different gorilla family in a new part of the forest. This gives you the chance to see how different gorilla groups behave and interact.

As you hike through the thick greenery, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and fresh forest air. When you find the gorillas, you’ll again have one hour to watch them up close. You might see adults feeding, grooming each other, or relaxing, while the younger ones swing from branches and play. Every trek is different and special in its own way, and this second experience lets you see even more of their natural life. It’s a truly unforgettable moment in the heart of the forest.

Once you land in Entebbe, you’ll connect to your international flight home, ending your unforgettable gorilla safari adventure.
