Depart from Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning, around 7:00 AM, for a 3–4-hour drive to Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch in Nakasongola District. On arrival, you will meet a ranger who will give you a briefing about the sanctuary, the rhino tracking process, and opportunities for birdwatching.
After briefing, embark an exciting 2-hour walking safari to track the southern white rhinos with an expert local ranger guide. You will get a chance to observe these magnificent animals up close in their natural habitat and learn about the sanctuary’s important conservation efforts. There are currently more than 40 white rhinos in the sanctuary, and seeing one just a few meters away is an unforgettable experience.
While exploring the ranch, you will also encounter other wildlife, including monkeys and antelopes as well as some of the 300 bird species. Some of the notable birds include the Sheobill, Giant Kingfisher, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Brown-throated Wattle-eye, Double-toothed Barbet, Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill, and Great Blue and Ross’s Turaco.
After the rhino tracking, enjoy a delicious lunch at a nearby diner or the sanctuary’s restaurant and have some time to rest. After that, you will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in evening with unforgettable memories from your adventure at Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch.
