Join us for an amazing 1 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary tour, a unique chance to meet Uganda’s rescued chimpanzees on the beautiful waters of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake.
Ngamba Island is home to over 50 orphaned chimpanzees that were rescued from poachers, the pet trade, and other human threats. At the sanctuary they live in a safe, semi-natural forest where they can recover, play, and enjoy a peaceful life.
The sanctuary is managed by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) together with international partners such as the Jane Goodall Institute. Their mission is to protect these chimps, give visitors an unforgettable learning experience, and support nearby villages by creating jobs and opportunities. During your day on Ngamba Island, you will see the chimpanzees up close during their feeding times, listen to their incredible rescue stories, and learn more about how they are cared for by dedicated staff.
As you take in the sights and sounds of Lake Victoria, you will also discover how conservation work is helping both wildlife and local communities. This one-day trip is not only exciting and full of natural beauty, but it also plays an important role in giving these chimpanzees a second chance at life.
