Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is definitely one of the most luxurious lodges in Uganda! Its location – at 2,000 metres above sea level – gives amazing views over the Virunga Volcano Range to the south and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest itself to the north.

A note of caution: gorilla treks from Clouds are some of the hardest in Bwindi because the trails can be steep and challenging. But if you prefer something easier, there are other routes available. These easier treks usually require a 30–40-minute drive, weather permitting, to the starting point in Rushaga.
Access & Location
Getting to Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is possible in two ways:
- By road: From Kigali International Airport, the journey takes about six hours.
- By air: You can fly to Kisoro, which is about two hours from the lodge.
The lodge is well-positioned for exploring the forest and seeing gorillas, while still offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Its hilltop location means you get panoramic views of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and the Virunga Volcanoes.
Accommodation & Facilities
The lodge is elegant, with tall ceilings and large wooden beams.
