Kibale Primate Lodge
Primate Lodge Kibale is one of the best places to stay if you want to experience the magic of Uganda’s Kibale rainforest. It sits right in the heart of Kibale National Park, surrounded by tall trees, tropical plants, and the calls of chimpanzees and birds.
This is not just a lodge — it is a true forest home. When you stay here, you are completely inside nature. You will wake up to the sound of monkeys in the trees and fall asleep to the gentle hum of insects at night. The lodge is small, private, and designed to blend perfectly into its surroundings.
Primate Lodge is very special because it is located only a few meters from the starting point for chimpanzee tracking. That means you don’t need to drive anywhere — your adventure begins right at your doorstep. It is an excellent choice for travelers who love nature, wildlife, and peaceful places.
Access & Location
Primate Lodge can be reached by road or by air. From Kampala, the drive takes around 5 hours, passing through rolling hills, green tea plantations, and small villages until you reach Fort Portal town. From there, it is a 36 km drive to the lodge inside the park.
If you prefer to fly, you can take a light aircraft from Entebbe International Airport to Kasese Airstrip, and then drive for about one hour to reach the lodge.
The lodge is located very close to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, the main Uganda Wildlife Authority office for Kibale. This makes it easy to join guided forest walks, chimpanzee treks, and other park activities. The location is perfect — right inside the forest, yet safe, comfortable, and quiet.
