Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge is one of the most beautiful and exclusive lodges in Uganda. It sits quietly on the southern bank of the River Nile, inside Murchison Falls National Park, where nature is wild and wonderful.

The lodge is privately owned and built with care to blend perfectly with its natural surroundings. Every part of it — from the thatched roofs to the open wooden decks — has been designed to give guests peace, comfort, and closeness to nature.

Nile Safari Lodge is perfect for travellers who want luxury with privacy. Whether you’re here for a honeymoon, a family holiday, or a once-in-a-lifetime safari, this lodge offers an unforgettable experience.

From your room, you can watch the sun set over the Nile, hear hippos in the water, and see birds fly across the wide river. It’s a place where luxury meets wilderness, and where every detail is made with love.

Access & Location

Nile Safari Lodge is located on the south bank of the River Nile, inside Murchison Falls National Park, northern Uganda.

It is about five hours by road from Kampala or a short flight from Entebbe to Bugungu Airstrip, followed by a 30-minute drive to the lodge. Guests can also arrive by helicopter, as the property has a private helipad.

The lodge is surrounded by papyrus forests and offers breathtaking views across the Nile. The setting is peaceful and natural — far from crowds and city noise. This is one of the few places in Uganda where you can enjoy true privacy and stillness while staying in complete comfort.

Accommodation & Facilities At Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge has eight luxurious bandas (cottages) set along the riverbank. Each one is designed with natural materials, large open spaces, and beautiful views of the water.

Deluxe Bandas: There are six deluxe bandas, each with a large bed, en-suite bathroom, and an outdoor shower under the stars. The furniture is handmade from local wood, and the décor mixes modern design with African style. Every banda has a private deck where you can relax, read, or watch the river flow by.

Mzezi Honeymoon Banda: This is the most private and romantic room at the lodge. It comes with a private plunge pool, an open-air shower, and a star bed for sleeping under the night sky. It’s a dream hideaway for couples celebrating love.

Dunia Family Suite: For families or small groups, the Dunia Suite has two bedrooms, a shared living room, and a private swimming pool. It can sleep up to eight guests comfortably. The suite overlooks the Shoebill Peninsula and gives families the space and privacy they need.

Activities At Ngamba Eco-Lodge

Staying at Nile Safari Lodge gives you access to some of Uganda’s best wildlife and adventure experiences.

  1. Game Drives: Explore Murchison Falls National Park on a guided safari. You’ll see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, and more. Morning and evening drives offer the best chances to spot wildlife.
  2. Boat Cruises on the Nile: The lodge’s perfect location allows easy access to the Nile. You can take a 3-hour boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where the river crashes through a narrow gorge. Along the way, you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and many birds.
There’s also an early morning or sunset cruise for amazing photo opportunities.
  3. Hike to the Top of the Falls: Take a short hike (about 1 hour) to see Murchison Falls from above — a truly powerful sight as the river squeezes through a 7-meter gap and drops into the gorge below.
  4. Birdwatching: The Park is home to more than 450 bird species, including fish eagles, flamingos, kingfishers, and the rare shoebill stork. Birdwatching can be done by boat or on guided nature walks.
  5. Chimpanzee Trekking: Visit Kaniyo Pabidi Forest, part of Budongo Forest Reserve, where more than 800 chimpanzees live.
  6. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: On your way to or from the lodge, you can stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see Uganda’s only wild rhinos. It’s a great addition to your safari experience.
